Polar Passport to the Seneca Lake Wine Trail
It may be the off-season, if the Finger Lakes even has one, but that doesn’t mean the colder months don’t have their own perks. What we sacrifice in warm weather, abundant sunshine, and outdoor recreation and activities we gain in great deals and better drinks. This winter, the Seneca Lake Wine Trail hosts its off-season promotion, the Polar Passport. The Polar Passport allows visitors to explore the many world-class wineries around Seneca Lake for a price far below the regular cost of tasting at every one of the participating wineries.
The Polar Passport tickets include fifteen participating wineries and an additional seven that have limited dates—and it all costs only $30 (excluding tax). With an average charge around $5.00 for a standard flight of wine samples, your value will be placed best if you’re planning a wine tasting excursion across a weekend or week (or even multiple visits) that allows you to reach at least seven or eight, if not most, of the participating wineries. What makes this even better is the personal time you’ll find yourself having with the winemakers, owners, and vineyard managers. Even though the busy summer months are a lot of fun, the winter is actually the best season to spend some time with the winemakers and other staff members who find themselves relaxing after the busy summer and fall seasons in the tasting rooms of the Finger Lakes.
Some of the wineries and vineyards near Yale Manor are included in the Polar Passport, like Three Brothers, Lamoreaux Landing, Ventosa Vineyards, and Wagner Vineyards, as well as the beautiful Belhurst Castle. If you choose your starting location online for the Polar Passport, it may be a good idea to choose Three Brothers Wineries and Estates since it’s only a five-minute drive away from Yale Manor on Lake Road.
The Polar Passport also features a great perk popular among customers and wine aficionados alike. If you purchase at least one bottle of wine at eleven or more wineries (and make sure the winery stamps your passport) the Seneca Lake Wine Trail office will send you a complimentary passport of the same kind for next season. So, maybe it’s time to start a new collection of Finger Lakes wine at home and start a new tradition of visiting us every winter. We’d love to have you.
