Savor the Spirits of Craft Distilleries in the Finger Lakes

While the Finger Lakes region is famous for its wine production, there is an impressive and growing lineup of distillers of fine spirits nestled in the lakeside landscape. Not only do distilleries have access to one of the best grape-growing regions in the country, but also to local crops of corn, barley, and other grains and fruit. And with craft distilled liquors growing in popularity, it's no wonder distilling operations thrive here in the Finger Lakes.

With beverages to satisfy every palate, here is just a sampling of the distilleries within a short drive from Yale Manor.

Finger Lakes Distillers

Finger Lakes Distilling  specializes in gin, whiskey, brandy, vodka, grappa and liqueurs. When you approach the distillery, you'll notice the building design inspired by the style of Scottish distilleries, with its white walls, black trim and traditional pagoda roof. Step inside to the tasting room and store for a sample of their signature McKenzie whiskies, which rest in oak barrels until they mature into a rich, aged spirit. Myer Farm Distillery
7350 State Route 89, Ovid
Myer Farm Distillery offers a taste of field-to-flask production, using certified organic grain from their own farm to distill a unique range of spirits. The Myer family has farmed in Ovid since as early as 1810, and has been working the land at their current location since 1868. The pagoda-topped stillhouse pays homage to Scottish malt houses, finished in chiseled wall stone. Whiskey, gin, vodka and specialty spirits make up their lineup of libations that have been given attention to every detail.

Hidden Marsh Distillery @ Montezuma Winery
2981 U.S. Route 20, Seneca Falls

The Martin family has humble roots in the honey production and pollination business. Over time, they developed fruit, grape and honey wines and spirits, and in 2001, opened Montezuma Winery and Hidden Marsh Distillery. Their BEE Vodka stands out among their product line. It's triple distilled from 100% New York honey with undertones of caramel on the finish, but never sweet. All of their offerings – whiskey, vodka, brandy and liquors – are made from natural sources in small batches, a hands-on process that takes on an artistic form.

Alder Creek Distillery @ Idol Ridge Winery

Adding to the Martin family’s portfolio, Alder Creek Distillery is their second endeavor in distilling after Hidden Marsh. Alder Creek produces an assortment of spirits including gin, bourbon and vodka. From their tasting room located at Idol Ridge Winery, you can take in the perfect panoramic view of Seneca Lake in their lodge-style atmosphere. Grab a spot outside at a chair or picnic table and enjoy a flight of three spirit samples, a souvenir snifter and a few yummy treats. Or you can take your tasting kit to-go and enjoy in the comfort of your restful retreat at Yale Manor.
