Visit the Tasting Bar at the Finger Lakes Welcome Center

Open last spring, the new Finger Lakes Welcome Center is a beautiful addition to the City of Geneva that displays all the best features and signature traits of the Finger Lakes region. Admire the landscaping and waterfall out front, the huge map inlaid into the floor, and the canoes hanging from the ceiling that act as chandeliers. Don’t forget to take in the breathtaking view from the glass windows overlooking Seneca Lake. The brand new lakefront center is the best way to start your first Finger Lakes adventure or to learn more about our charming region before kickstarting an excursion to our famous wineries and vineyards.

One of the best parts of the Finger Lakes Welcome Center is its emphasis on our wine country. Our unique microclimate made it possible for dozens of vineyards to spring up throughout the Finger Lakes and to thrive as businesses. Today, visitors and residents alike regularly enjoy the relaxing atmosphere (and the delicious wine, of course!) that the wineries provide along the scenic shores of the lakes. The Finger Lakes Welcome Center embraces the importance of our wine industry with a tasting bar that features a rotating selection of local and regional wines for tasting. Find your favorite or discover a new flavor that satisfies your taste buds.

The center also holds a Taste NY Market offering Finger Lakes regional products for purchase like cheese, ice cream, coffee, candy, snacks, beer, cider, wine, and much more. You can also grab an entree from the menu for lunch or dinner and purchase a souvenir afterwards to commemorate your trip.

The best days to visit the Finger Lakes Welcome Center are “Wine Wednesdays” in order to sample wines from the Seneca Lake Wine Trail. Tastings are free of charge and a great way to learn more about local wineries along the trail before traveling to the wineries themselves--which we definitely recommend! Wine Wednesdays are held at 4PM until September 4th. Other events include cooking demos, gelato tastings, craft events, wine and cheese pairings, and featured winery tastings.
