Yale Manor Welcomes New Winery: Boundary Breaks
When staying at Yale Manor, you’re relaxing in the heart of Finger Lakes Wine Country at the intersection of two of the region’s most notorious wine trails, Cayuga and Seneca Lake. Guests return time and again to enjoy abundant wineries along the shores of Seneca Lake, the deepest of the eleven Finger Lakes in Central New York. A new winery has opened nearby and is receiving rave reviews from guests and critics alike: Boundary Breaks Winery owned by husband and wife, Bruce Murray and Diana Lyttle. Both are New York natives; Bruce is retired from publishing and Diana is a retired high school teacher and practicing botanist. They offer incredible wines and deep insight and knowledge about grape-growing and wine-making in our region.
As stated on their website, “In the cool climate of the Finger Lakes, the best place to grow grapes is close to the lake. And the deeper the lake, the better. Thank you, dear glaciers, for carving such deep lakes.”
They go on to say, “These lakes, and the glaciers that created them, make it possible to grow grape varieties that otherwise would not survive the cold winters.” Their specialties include the classic Gewurztraminer and Cabernet Franc, but their “first love” is Riesling because “it is the finest white wine on earth.” Their 90+ point Rieslings are styled from “bone-dry to luscious dessert”.
Off the beaten path, outdoor seated tastings overlooking vineyards and Seneca Lake are available every day from 11 am to 5 pm.
