As parents and alumni alike make the pilgrimage back to their alma mater for the season’s events, someone has to figure out where they’re going to rest their heads for a night or two. Located just a fifteen minute drive from Hobart and William Smith Colleges, Yale Manor is the perfect destination for a fall getaway in the Finger Lakes.

Homecoming and Family Weekend at Hobart and William Smith Colleges is an exciting time of the year full of fall activities for the whole family and some of the years most anticipated sporting events. To get to know members of the faculty (and their creative side), view the Faculty Art Exhibit at the Davis Art Gallery at Houghton House. The popular Quad-a-Palooza event includes dinner from 6-8PM and family activities for all ages, including live entertainment and acapella groups on stage. Parents of students can also get informed at the “State of the Colleges” discussion with President Joyce Jacobsen. Take a campus walking tour starting at the Thomas Poole Family Admissions Center in the Gearan Center for the Performing Arts to explore the beautiful location of the colleges amongst the autumn scenery of Seneca Lake’s shores. Parents can also learn about student opportunities and programs at the HWS Parent Fair.

There are several athletic events taking place over Homecoming Weekend as well so wear your colors proudly when you hit the stadium on these dates. Events include the Hobart Lacrosse Alumni Game on Stiles Field in the Thomas B. Poole ‘61 and Family Sports Dome, William Smith Field Hockey vs. University of Rochester on H.J. McCooey Memorial Field, and Hobart Football vs. Montclair State University at David J. Urick Stadium. Other events include Hobart Rowing Alumni and Family Weekend with a barbecue lunch at Hellstrom Boathouse, located on the Seneca-Cayuga Canal.

Homecoming and Family Weekend will be held on the weekend of September 27-29, 2019.

HWS also hosts an annual Food Week. Food Week will be held October 20-26. Throughout the week, enjoy a 25% discount on all cookbooks at the College Store as well as a $1.35 fountain and coffee refill when using a reusable cup. On Friday, visit the Scandling Center’s first floor lounge for the Farmers Market where you can shop for local food and ingredients grown on nearby farms. At the Farmers Market, participate in honey extraction; you can also purchase Fribolin Farm Honey from the College Store.
