Harriet Tubman acted in many ways to fight for her people. She was known as a soldier, a nurse, and a “conducter” on the Underground Railroad. Whatever story you know her best for, like the $40,000 reward placed on her head by bounty hunters, there is no denying that she is one of the country’s greatest heroes. Born into slavery, Tubman escaped and would go on to make thirteen missions that successfully rescued seventy enslaved people.
